Prepaid Phone Plans in Serbia

Before visiting Serbia, you have to know the different prepaid phone plan providers in the country, especially if you are going to just stay temporarily and use your prepaid mobile phone there. Currently, there are three GSM prepaid phone operators in Serbia, namely: Telenor d.o.o., Telekom Srbija a.d. and Vip mobile d.o.o.

The mobile prefix for Serbia is +381. Their currency, 1 Dinar (RSD) = 0.00952263817 Euros. The electricity available in Serbia is 220 Volts with an electrical frequency of 50 Hertz. Time zone in Serbia is GMT +1 (CET).

GSM Prepaid Phone Operators in Serbia

The first GSM prepaid phone operator in Serbia is Telenor d.o.o. This telecommunications company was founded in 1994 as Mobtel and is headquartered in Belgrade, Serbia. Mobtel was renamed to Telenor on July 31, 2006 upon acquiring the company. This prepaid phone operator is a wholly subsidiary of Norwegian company Telenor. They are considered as the second largest mobile communications company in Serbia. Telenor Serbia offers a wide range of products and services to both private and business sectors. Their products include: mobile (in both post paid and prepaid phone plans) telephony, SMS, MMS, international calls, roaming services, broadband and Internet services in UMTS, HSDPA, WCDMA,EDGE, GPRS and GSM technologies.  Their signal covers 95% of Serbia’s inhabited territory and 90% of Serbia’s land area. Currently, Telenor Serbia has more than 3 million active customers.

The prepaid phone card name for Telenor Serbia is called “Prepaid Paketi.” The activation fee for this prepaid phone card is RSD 200 with 50 free credits. Prepaid Paketi phone cards are valid for 11 months after activation plus 4 months grace period. The net frequency for Telenor Serbia are GSM 900/1800 and WCDMA 2100. The logos for this prepaid phone card are YU Telenor, YU MOBTEL and YU 01 with a net code of 220 01.

There are five voice tariffs under Prepaid Paketi, namely: Tako Lako, Moja Ekipa, Poruke, Priča and Grand Prepaid. Tako Lako offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 6.96, all calls for RSD 6.96 and national SMS for RSD 4.01. Moja Ekipa offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 6.96, all calls for RSD 8.85 and national SMS for RSD 4.01. This voice tariff allows its users to be constantly connected with their three closest friends while achieving great savings. A one-time top-up in the amount of at least RSD 500 to each SIM will allow unlimited airtime usage with the rest of the three SIM numbers including video calling, within 30 days of the top-up in the domestic network. Poruke offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 6.96, all calls for RSD 8.85 and national SMS for 8.85 and national SMS for RSD 2.24. Priča offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 5.78, calls to Telenor Serbia for RSD 3.42, other calls for RSD 9.32 and national SMS for RSD 4.01. While Grand Prepaid offers: set up fee for all calls for 7.00, calls to three numbers group for RSD 1.00, other calls for RSD 7.00 and national SMS for 4.00.

Telenor Serbia Prepaid Internet – Users can buy a kit including a USB modem and a prepaid sim-card for RSD 2,990.00. The prepaid phone card includes 4GB of data to be spent within 2 months. Users can also buy only the sim-card at RSD 390 including 300MB of data to be spent within 7 days. After that users can choose on one of the following prepaid bundles:

  • Daily – 100MB – RSD 100/day; send Daily internet to 9000
  • Weekly – 300MB – RSD 300/week; send Weekly internet to 9000
  • Monthly – 1GB – RSD 900/month; send Monthly internet to 9000

**Users who do not choose the up above bundles, the cost for data is RSD 12.98/MB. Users can use the sim-card also for calling (RSD 11.00/min plus RSD 1.95 set-up fee) and sending SMS (RSD 3.25).

Telenor Serbia Prefixes: 062, 063

The second GSM prepaid phone operator in Serbia is Telekom Srbija a.d. or also called as Telekom Serbia. This telecommunications company was established in June 1997 and is headquartered in Belgrade, Serbia. They bare considered the largest mobile communications company in Serbia that offers products and services such as: mobile (in both post paid and prepaid phone plans) telephony, fixed line telephony, network services, broadband and Internet services. They also offer their services in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The prepaid phone card name for Telekom Serbia is called “Prepaid.” There are three activation fees available for Telekom Serbia: RSD 200 with 200 credits, RSD 500 with 700 credits and RSD 1000 with 1500 free credits. Prepaid phone cards are valid for 11 months after their activation plus 1 month grace period. The net frequency for Telekom Serbia are GSM 900/1800 and WCDMA 2100. The logo for this prepaid phone card is YUG 03 with 220 03 as its net code.

There are three voice tariffs under Prepaid, namely: Toki, Tipi and Kul. Toki offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 4.60, calls to MTS (1st minute) for RSD 8.26, calls to MTS (2nd and 3rd minute) for RSD 5.70, calls to MTS (> 3 minutes) for RSD 2.07 and other calls for RSD 11.68. Tipi offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 5.90, calls to MTS for RSD 8.85 and other calls for RSD 11.68. Kul offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 4.99, all calls for RSD 7.55 and calls to MTS (> 3 minutes) for RSD 1.15.

Tariff bonuses - The Toki plan is the preactivated one of MTS prepaid customers. When users activate a new card they will get 20 SMS free of charge. If they wish to switch to Tipi, they will get 10 SMS free of charge; they will also get free SMS from 1 to 2 am every night and every 8 SMS sent they get 1 free.

Friends & Family - With all plans users can choose some favorite numbers to call at a special rate:

MTS Serbia Prefixes: 064, 065

The third GSM prepaid phone operator in Serbia is Vip mobile d.o.o. This telecommunications company was established in 2007 and is headquartered in Belgrade, Serbia. The company is a wholly subsidiary of Mobilkom Austria group. They offer a wide range of products and services to private and business groups, it include:  fixed line telephony, mobile (in both post paid and prepaid phone plans) telephony, SMS, MMS, voicemail, international calls, roaming services, broadband and Internet services in UMTS, WCDMA, GPRS and GSM technologies. As of March 2009, Vip mobile Serbia acquired 1 million active subscribers or 10% market share.

The prepaid phone card name for Vip mobile Serbia is called “Prepaid.” The activation fee for this prepaid phone card is RSD 200 with 200 free credits. The net frequency for Vip mobile Serbia are GSM 900/1800 and WCDMA 2100. The logo for this prepaid phone card is RS VIP with a net code of 220 05.

Prepaid offers: set up fee for all calls for RSD 6.90 and all calls for RSD 8.90.

Option Double recharge - Every recharge of RSD 200 or more will be doubled. Users can use the bonus for calls, SMS and MMS towards all national networks, as well as for data transfer. Users can also talk to their couple for only RSD 1.00. All they need to do is top up theirr account with the amount of RSD 200 or more, at least once a week. The bonus is valid for 7 days within the national traffic, without added value services. The price of RSD 1.00/minute is valid for talks between two numbers within national traffic with a top up of RSD 200 or more every 7 days.

Option Free On net - By recharging your account with RSD 200 or more, a bonus credit for calls, SMS and MMS of RSD 1000 will apply 7 days after the day of recharging and will not accumulate. Bonus credit can be used for SMS and MMS only for 060/061 numbers. The bonus credit may not be used for roaming, GPRS, international messages and added value services. The price of call set up fee for each initiated call is RSD 6.9,SMS is RSD 3.00, RSD 9.00 and RSD 11.8 for MMS. If upon the expiry of the promotional price, users must recharge their credit with an amount less than RSD 200, calls will be charged at the standard price of RSD 7.9 per minute. Prices are excluding tax. The promotional price does not apply to international calls, roaming and value added services.

Option Free SMS - Get up to 1500 free SMS that are valid for 7 days after recharging your credit with RSD 250 or more. Free SMS cannot be accumulated, cannot be used while roaming or with international networks, and cannot be used for value added services.
